Summer Goals

Summer is here again!  How in the world does that happen?  Last summer we created a weekly schedule (you can read about it here) that we are going to continue to do, but I wanted to add a few more fun things.

My BFF and I were talking and she said her kids have already started a goal list for summer.  A Goal List??!!  Yes, I am sure she has told me this before, but have I ever put something together for my boys?  Nope.  Today the boys and I were talking about research projects they wanted to complete (more on that later) and I decided that I really needed to get on that goal list.  Of course I had to create a special sheet for them to fill out (or what would be the point of goals...lol!).

As you can see I included a research section on ours since we will be doing one or more of these this summer.  Does any one else talk about summer goals or do summer goal lists with their kids?  Super fun!

Lights Are Up

The new lights are up and I. Love. Them.  They are bigger and brighter and just seem to fit the space better.  Once I paint in the kitchen I think I will love them even more!

So without further ado...

I haven't touched above the cabinets yet (plan on changing all of that out) or painted, but I still love the lights.

Now for the best part...a before and after shot.  Luckily I found an old photo of the pendants when they were first installed!

What do you think?  It's a bummer an original one got shattered, but I am excited for a new look!

Pendant Lights - Finally

It's been a loooonnnggg time since I wrote about my poor pendant light that shattered!  My original post is here - Pendant Light.  I can't believe that post was back in September...wow!!

Having to get 3 lights made my decision pretty difficult.  Most of the lights I really wanted were just way too expensive!  Of course I wanted a different color so just replacing the glass was going to be a small fortune.

I wanted a change...

...no more red.

Wondering around Ikea I spotted a light I thought might work.  And the best part, each light was only $19.99...yes you  heard  me right!!  I snagged three...at that price I can even change them out when I get tired of them (which is bound to happen!).

These lights are KROBY Pendant Lamps from Ikea.  I think it will change the look of the entire space...the small red ones kinda got lost in the sea of cabinets.  Do you think they'll look good?  Later this week I'll show you how it turned out!

Scrapbook Storage

I have scrapbook supplies all over the house!  Honestly...all. over. the. place.  It starts in our master bedroom in 3 drawers and in a box under the bed, in the coat closet at the entry, in the hall closet with all the sheets, in Andrew's closet, and of course the living room...lol!!  Listing all of the places makes me wonder what in the world is wrong with me!!

Storing everything in one place has been a challenge...obviously, but I think I have a solution...yippee!!

There is one wall in my living room that drives me crazy so I've decided to line it with Ikea shelves (Expedit) and see if I can fit all of my supplies in one place.  We had one of these shelves already in the playroom and I moved it to the living room (kinda left the playroom a mess...yikes!).  Next was a trip to Ikea (oh darn!) to pick up another shelf.  Once I had it all put together it was time to see how it looked.

Look at all of that storage!!  I hope I can figure out a way to make everything fit.  Check out my cart in the middle.  What do you think?  I already organized my ribbon and paint which was also in 3 different containers (couldn't resist doing a little colorful organizing!).

Next step is to gather all of my supplies and decide which containers I need from Ikea.  Looks like I get to make another trip!

A Happy Fridge

I can't even believe I am going to show this hot mess!!  It has been driving me crazy and I am sure you can see why...lol!

I don't even know what happened??!!  I had to take everything out, read expiration dates, throw out old left overs and basically just be grossed out by what was in my poor fridge.

It was time to get serious and line the shelves with some fun place mats (maybe this way I'll keep it organized!).  I found the perfect ones at Ikea for $1.99 (pack of 4).

Aren't they so colorful and fun?  I lined only the shelves I can see.  Unfortunately they didn't fit perfectly, but I just cut them to size.

My fridge is now super happy!!

The side wasn't too bad to begin with, but moving things from the shelves to their place on the side made a gigantic difference in the amount of space on the shelves!   And look at that, the drawer is even nice and organized!

See the happy bird place mats?  Much more fun to open the fridge now!

Oh, I completely forgot to share where I purchased all the fun organizers.  The white with the handles came from Walmart for only $1.49 each and the small white ones are from Walmart as well.  I think they were about $2.00 for a pack of 2.  The blue with the handles are from The Dollar Tree.

Containers make all of the difference!  Anyone done any fridge organizing lately or added fun shelf liners for a little fun?

Teacher Appreciation 2013

How in the world is it already May??!!  I have no idea what has happened to me the last few weeks...I need to get with it...lol!!

This week is teacher appreciation week at school and each day has a different theme.  It ends up being quite a bit of work to get everything ready.  Although I guess I could just buy a couple bags of candy and be done with it, but of course I have to try and make it cute!  Today was M&M day or favorite candy day (can you imagine getting candy from an entire class...yikes...but it's not up to me I just do what I am told...lol!).

I have two boys in school so we needed to make two gifts.  One teacher likes starbursts and the other dark chocolate.

Here is what we came up with...of course we had a little help from pinterest!

I made two labels in Microsoft Publisher to attach to the jars.  I laminated the labels for durability (I didn't want them to just tear right off).

We stuck them in a cute bag so they could easily be carried to school.  Pretty quick and painless and much cuter than just a bag of candy...right?
